LITTLE BUDS BABY MASSAGE

Suitable for babies from 6-8 weeks to fully mobile, baby massage is a wonderful and empowering tool to learn in early parenthood. During the course you will learn a full body massage to be able to help provide relief for your little one from the discomfort of colic and trapped wind, colds and congestion, teething, dry skin and much more. 

Massage is a relaxing activity for both parent and baby. By simply touching your baby in the nurturing form through baby massage, it promotes the release of Oxytocin, otherwise known as the 'love hormone'. This hormone can help to reduce levels of stress hormones in both baby and parent, bringing about a sense of relaxation, trust and enhancing the bond between you and your baby. Baby massage can also boost your baby's sleep-regulating hormone, Serotonin, which can lead to better and deeper sleep cycles - for you and your baby.

During the course, you will learn how to massage your baby's legs, feet, tummy, chest, arms, hands, face and back. The strokes used will help to boost circulation to your baby's tissues, support your baby's nervous system and immune system and improve their own body awareness. We will also discuss tummy time with tips and age-appropriate positions, together with soothing holds. During the course we also make special memories with a footprint/handprint memento card. In the last session we will also introduce some gentle baby yoga moves and stretches to aid your baby's digestion and development.

Twins/triplets are very welcome.

A welcome pack is provided on your first week and includes organic massage oil to use during your sessions and at home.

These classes take place in the beautiful Flowstone Wellbeing Studio, located within The Climbing Experience in Maidstone. There is plenty of parking and space for buggies. There is also a gorgeous cafe upstairs, which is a great place to have a coffee and a chat with other mums and dads on the courses before or after class.

In your loving arms, your baby will experience swings, dips and holds, enjoy active play and tummy time and relax with you. The use of song in baby yoga promotes your baby's language development and rhythm. Certain moves and holds can also help relieve digestive pains or the discomfort of colic and wind.

 

These classes are the perfect follow-on from our Baby Massage classes, however you do not have to have attended a Baby Massage class to join in with Baby Yoga - all are very welcome! Baby Yoga classes are suitable for babies from 3 months old (when neck strength has developed), and can continue until baby is very mobile (usually around 8 months, but every baby is different and some may wish to come for longer!)

Life for parents and baby can be busy; time spent in car seats, pushchairs and highchairs can be balanced with the active movement and beneficial stretching of Baby Yoga, helping to stimulate your baby's nervous system and strengthen their muscular system. This development helps with your baby's balance and body awareness which are vital as your baby moves on to more complex movements, gross motor skills and co-ordination. In one session of baby yoga, your baby could experience a level of beneficial stimulation equal to a whole day's worth.

The benefits for mum and baby are in equal measure as whilst baby develops their sensory integration and range of movement, you will have a chance to promote your post-birth restoration with gentle yoga poses. These poses will help you to stretch out any postural issues you may be experiencing from perhaps feeding baby or carrying baby, whilst also bringing you relaxation in a calm and non-competitive environment.

It is important to note that repetition and anticipation is important for babies and, as with traditional yoga poses, baby yoga is focused on the practice of poses as baby develops. 

A welcome pack is provided on your first week. During the final week we also make special memories with a footprint/handprint memento card.

LITTLE BLOOMS STRETCH, LEARN AND PLAY

Designed for more mobile babies and toddlers, these classes are the perfect blend of gentle and beneficial yoga stretches to aid baby's development, songs and rhymes, fun movements and plenty of time for free play. Babies can attend from approx. 8 months old (or when they have outgrown Little Blossoms), and can continue far into 'toddler-dom', usually around 18 months.

When our babies become more mobile and independent, they tend to outgrow calm and restful 'baby' spaces, but can be overwhelmed and overstimulated by classes for older children. Little Blooms meet your toddler's needs by adapting each class to how the group are feeling on the day. Through fun massage with songs and rhymes, familiar stretches and movements, and a chance to move independently and explore, we blend learning with play.

Your older babies and toddlers will be able to socialise with one another, learning to interact with one another through play, communicating through eye contact, simple sounds and body language.

We keep each section short as we know that your little one will have a short attention span, wanting to change position and activity regularly. 

The gentle stretches and movements that we offer babies and toddlers to take part in are designed to meet their developmental needs, such as learning to coordinate and control their body movements, gaining vitally important core strength, developing refined gross and fine motor skills, all in a space that will allow them to test their independence and social skills.

As babies get older, they get a little louder and more excitable. These classes meet your babies wants and needs, however you are important too. We will also always make time to chat with each other, get to know each other and if our little ones allow, have space to gently stand up tall and take some deep breaths. Natural, heuristic play is at the heart of these classes for your baby, and the environment will be as calm as it can be for you to take some time out from the busyness of our day to day lives.
